Cloudflare Error 1000: DNS Points to Prohibited IP

Symptom

Domain returns Error 1000 immediately after a DNS edit.

Root cause

A record points to a Cloudflare IP or another prohibited address.

Fix, in order

1. Your origin A/AAAA record must be your real server IPdig +short yourdomain.com A # must not be 1.1.1.1 or 104.x Cloudflare IP
2. Check for stale AAAA records pointing at Cloudflaredig AAAA yourdomain.com
3. Wait for propagation, then purge cachecurl -X POST https://api.cloudflare.com/client/v4/.../purge

Prevent it coming back

Never copy the "proxied" IP into DNS records.
